Air Con Installation: What you need to know before booking your next install.
Before you go ahead with your new air conditioning installation, you need to make sure your expert air conditioning installer is the best fit for you and your property. Here are our answers to important things to think about to help you determine you’ve chosen the right electrician for the job:
Installing the System
• Have they considered additional cable length and pipework? Will the installation be for a high set or low set? What additional charges might they incur once they begin work at your home?
If site visits have been completed these quotes are generally fixed and may include variations as discussed during the site visit. Site unseen quotes are NOT fixed. If we arrive onsite and find variations are required these will be raised and discussed with the customer prior to commencing.
• Inquire about the energy efficiency, noise levels both inside and outside, after-sales service, warranty, controls, and whether it’s the latest model or an older version.
We supply the best air conditioner brands and provide detailed product brochures relating to the air conditioner as well as a link to information outlining what is included in a standard back-to-back installation
• Proper placement and model selection – does it complement the aesthetics of your home and function effectively? Is the unit appropriately sized? An air conditioner that’s too large can be just as problematic as one that’s too small. Consider the impact of heat load from sun exposure and shading.
We ensure that every air con installation is both visually appealing and functionally efficient for your home. Our team carefully selects the right model and placement to complement your home’s design while maximizing performance. We assess the unit’s size to ensure it’s neither too large nor too small, as this directly impacts efficiency and comfort. Additionally, we consider factors like sun exposure, shading, and overall heat load to optimize your air conditioner’s performance.
• Check if the circuit uses a high-quality cable or a cheaper alternative. Has the air conditioner been installed with a safety switch, as required by recent laws? Also, make sure the cable size is suitable for the newer air conditioner models, considering the recent changes in wiring standards.
We ensure a high-quality electrical connection by using premium cables and installing a safety switch to comply with current regulations. Our team also checks that the cable size meets the latest wiring standards for modern air conditioner models.
• Ensure the drain is up to code. Does it direct condensation properly to the storm water system? Effective termite control requires moisture to be kept away from the house.
We ensure our drains are run to the nearest drainage point, downpipe etc.
• Prevent the unit from falling by using sturdy brackets. If brackets are necessary, make sure they are durable enough to last as long as the air conditioning system. Replacing them halfway through the unit’s lifespan can be costly.
If brackets are required, we use sturdy, high-quality brackets to securely mount your air conditioner, ensuring they last as long as the unit to avoid any costly replacements.
• Is the pipework properly insulated to improve energy efficiency?
As part of our air con installation process, we ensure that all pipework is properly insulated to enhance energy efficiency. Quality insulation helps maintain your air conditioner’s cooling performance, minimizes energy loss, and ensures your system runs at peak efficiency.
Ensuring a Smooth Air Con Installation
• Fire Safety and Pests: Will the wall penetrations be properly sealed to ensure fire safety and prevent pests from entering?
We ensure all wall penetrations are sealed to maintain fire safety and prevent pest entry.
• Will a corrosion inhibitor be provided as part of the installation?
We include a corrosion inhibitor as part of our installation to protect your air conditioner and extend its lifespan.
• In Queensland, geckos are attracted to the warmth of circuit boards, and termites can cause short circuits in air conditioners. Will gecko deterrent measures be included?
We understand the challenges posed by geckos and termites in Queensland. That’s why our air con installation includes gecko deterrent measures to help protect your system from damage, particularly to circuit boards, ensuring long-term reliability and optimal performance.

• Will your pipework be safeguarded with premium ‘Aussie Duct’ products?

• Ensure the contractors are fully licensed and insured. Request to see their Arctic, Electrical, and QBCC licenses, along with proof of public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

If Voltora maintain and service the system/s every 12 months, the installation warranty will be extended for up to 5 years.
• Will the installer attach a sticker to the outdoor unit with the date of the next air conditioner service to help you stay on top of maintenance and preserve your warranty?
Voltora place stickers on the outdoor units and switchboards. These stickers have our contact number and information. The customer will receive correspondence via email to advise when their system/s are due for servicing.
